Tips for your Lips

  • To make your lipstick last all day, use your lip liner on your lips as a base. Fill in your entire lip with the liner first, then apply lipstick on top of the liner. Use the same color liner or a color that is very close to your lipstick.
  • To see the true color of a lipstick, swatch it on your finger tips, not the back of your hand like we have all done! Your fingertips have similar texture and pigment as your lips.
  • To avoid making lip lines more visible under lipstick, apply lipstick in a vertical motion rather than a horizontal motion. This way the lipstick is being applied in the same direction as your natural lip lines.

  • If your lip liners/lipsticks usually crumble, put them in the fridge over night to make them firmer.

  • You can lick your lips before taking a sip from your glass to avoid lipstick marks all over the glass.

  • Don’t be afraid to use your lipstick as blush.  Treat it as you would a cream stick blush. Just make sure you blend it out well.
  • To keep lipstick off of your teeth, close your lips around your pointer finger then pull your finger out to remove excess color from your inner lips.

  • When you are using a dark, rich-colored lipstick, apply it straight from the tube.  If you use your fingers or a lip brush, it will make the color too sheer. Start at the center of your lips and skip the corners, the color will seep there by itself.

  • If your teeth are looking yellow, use lipsticks that have blue undertones, like cherry red.
  • Applying a little concealer or foundation before your lip products will result in longer staying power and allow the true color of the lipstick to show.

  • Is your favorite lipstick almost gone? Scrape out the remaining product at the bottom and mix with a gloss or vasaline and store in small container. Apply with your finger or a lip brush.

  • For super bright matte lips: apply a concealer to moisturized lips, line entire lip with the same color pencil, apply lipstick, blot, reapply lip color, and finish with a light dusting of translucent powder.

  • Apply a lip balm as soon as you step out of the shower.  The balm will trap in the moisture and create a smooth canvas for when your ready for lip color.

  • Women over 50 should avoid glossy or matte lips, and stick with a creamy lipstick.
  • What’s the perfect red lipstick for you? First, you have to find the natural undertone of you skin! Those with cool undertones (pink/red tones) look best in blusish red shades. Those with warm undertones (yellow/olive) look best in orangish red shades.
  • When wearing a bright lip color, make it the focus of the face. Keep the eyes and face more natural and vise versa. Color on the lips, cheeks, and eyes at the same time can look clownish.

  • If you are one to get red lipstick all over your teeth, ditch the lipstick and just fill in lips with a red lip liner and add a clear balm on top.

Fair Skin

Medium Skin

Darker Skin

for fuller, plump lips:

1.) apply a moisturizing lip balm to exfoliated lips
2.) with a lip liner that is the same color as your natural lip color, line just outside the natural lip line and instead of precisely defining the cupid’s bow, connect it with your pencil
3.) fill in the whole lip with your lip liner to ensure that the color stays in place
4.) use a liquid or powder highlighter to highlight the cupid’s bow
5.)apply a neutral lipstick straight from the tube, then go back in with your finger and push the lip color into your lips
7.) apply a shimmery gloss to the center of the bottom lip!

*for even more fullness, you could use a white or a flesh tone liner and lightly line the center lip lines on both top and bottom.

lip exfoliating:

  • You should exfoliate lips at least a couple times a week. You can either buy lip exfoliators or you could make your own.
  • The best time to exfoliate is directly after you shower because the skin is the softest and dead skin cells will come off easier.
  •    You could use your toothbrush and a dab of toothpaste to scrub your lips or you could mix some sugar and honey and scrub lips using a warm, damp washcloth in a circular motion.
  • Always apply a balm after you exfoliate!

All That Glitters Is Gold

What is more fun and playful than glitter?! Whether it's a pop of glitter on your eyes, lips, cheeks, or nails, you will feel like a million bucks! Here are few tips and tricks to help you sparkle! Remember, makeup should never be too serious, it should be fun!

2.) NARS blush in "Super Orgasm"

3.) Makeup Forever Diamond Powders

4. Milani Jewel FX Nail Polish in "Silver," "Gold," and "Gems"

Tips:

  • ALWAYS use cosmetic glitter when applying anywhere on the face, regular glitter could get in your eye, scratch it, and blind you
  • loose glitter will not stick unless you use some type of glitter glue, cream eye shadow, or sticky base. (Too Faced Shadow Insurance Glitter Glue, Hard Candy Glitter Glue, Mac Fix + on a brush, etc.)
  • to avoid looking like a shiny unicorn from glitter fallout all over your face, always apply glitter to the eyes first, then do your foundation, etc.
  • you can apply a loose powder under the eyes while applying your glitter so the fallout glitter will land on the powder and can easily be swept away or you could use makeup wipes to completely remove glitter from face so that you are ready for foundation
  • never sleep with glitter on your eyes, remove all glitter before you go to bed!
  • make sure that you don't go too overboard with the glitter; use it on one area at a time. If you are going to do glittery eyes, then do a matte lip and vise versa.

DIY sugar scrub!

Why spend money on store bought exfoliants when you can make your own with ingredients that are probably in your kitchen right now! This scrub really does wonders for the skin: moisturizes, renews, clears breakouts, and refreshes.  Plus, it is comforting to know that you are using all natural products on your skin rather than harsh chemicals and additives.  I suggest using this scrub every couple of days because it may start irritation if used daily.  Remember, never over exfoliate because it could start clogging your pores!

benefits:
Honey: moisturizer, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antioxidant
Lemon Juice: brightens skin, contains alpha hydroxy acids and beta hydroxy acids which kill dead skin cells, clears acne, fades freckles and age spots, contains vitamin C
Olive Oil: deep moisturizer, soothe, replenish, antioxidant, anti-aging properties
Brown Sugar: exfoliator, contains glycolic acid

Nicki Minaj Viva Glam

As soon as I saw the Nicki for MAC Viva Glam ad, I knew I had to recreate a look.  Nicki's makeup is so fun and I just thought she was gorgeous! So keep reading if you want to see how to create my take on this colorful look!

Products I Used:

Eyes:
MAC Soft Ochre paint pot
MAC Shroom shadow
MAC Omega shadow
e.l.f. Studio 144-piece ultimate eyeshadow palette
NYX Slide on eye pencil in Azure
MAC Penultimate liquid liner
Wet n' Wild white eyeliner
e.l.f. Natural lashes

Face:
MAC Studio Fluid Fix foundatin in NC20
Make Up For Ever Concealer Palette in No. 1
Diorskin Forever Invisible Retouch Powder
MAC Raizin blush

Lips:
MAC Stripdown liner
MAC Viva Glam Gaga
NYX Jupiter

How To Get This Look!

1.) Place MAC Soft Ocre paint pot all over the lids as a base to prevent creasing
2.) Apply the #1 green shadow from the palette all over the lid (from lash line to slightly above crease)
3.) Lightly blend the #2 shadow into the crease, then again with the #3 shadow to lighten up the green
4.) Then very lightly blend Omega or any light brown just above all of the green color
5.) Highlight under the brown and in corners of the eye with MAC's Shroom
6.) Line under the eyes with the white eyeliner to create a base for the blue color, extending the liner out past the outer corner of the eye to create a wing
7.) Use the NYX pencil in Azure to line the inner rims of eyes as well as the lash line
8.) Then go over all of the bottom liner with the #4 shadow, and again (lightly) with the #5 to smudge it out a bit
9.) Use the liquid liner to create a winged out liner on top and add false lashes if you want (I cut my lashes in half and just used them on the outter part of the eye)
10.) Then do your face makeup (foundation, concealer, bronzer/blush, etc..)
11.) For the lips, I haven't purchased the Nicki lipstick yet (which I will very soon :) and I wanted to go for a more subtle look so I lined my lips with the Stripdown liner and added Viva Glam Gaga over it and dabbed on Jupiter by NYX!

I Hope You Enjoyed :)

Valentine Beauty Must Haves

1) Kissable Red Pout

This method of the red lip is perfect for Valentine's Day because it won't transfer onto your boyfriend's shirt or his lips! Not to mention how sexy it is! Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub is the yummiest way to smooth out dry, cracked lips and take off the top layers of dead skin. Next, line and fill in the lips with Mac's Lip Liner in Redd to create a lipstick stained effect. For a more inexpensive option you could also use Rimmel London 1000 Kisses Stay On Lip Liner Pencil in Red Dynamite.  Because there is no real lipstick to this look (just the illusion of it), the color will not smudge off or get on your teeth.  Top off the lips with either a gloss, like Jessica Alba did for a more glamorous look, or for a more natural look use a tinted lip balm like Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Rose.

2) Sweet Tips

OPI's Bastille My Heart  is a gorgeous deep red wine color that gives off a sexy, sultry vibe.
American Apparel's Coney Island is such a fresh, feminine light pink that is beautiful on every skin tone.
Essie's A Cut Above is just fun and playful in every way. It's like a pink disco ball in a glass bottle!
OPI's Big Apple Red has become my go to red nail color. It's a perfect classic red.

3) Glowing Skin

The best look for Valentine's Day is glowing, dewy, youthful skin.  The key to this fresh look is a lightweight, creamy foundation like Cover Girl's NatureLuxe Foundation.  Always lightly dust a loose setting powder after foundation so your foundation doesn't slide off throughout the day/night.  Then top off the face with Smashbox Fusion Soft Lights shimmering powder. You can use this as a bronzer, blush, and highlighter to give a beautiful brightened glow to your skin. A cheaper alternative is Physician Formula's Shimmer Strips, which gives a great glow as well.

4) Romantic Fragrance

Estee Lauder Sensuous Noir is my all time favorite fragrance. Spritz this on if you are looking for a romantic, rich, sexy scent that will literally last all night long.  Sensuous Noir is a mysterious scent that men will absolutely adore.  This scent is great for everyday use, but will be especially great for Valentine's Day because of it's exotic scent.

5) Pretty, Soft Eyes

For romantic eyes, go for a soft, shimmery look with your eye makeup.  Go for natural colors in shimmering pinks, soft golds, and warm browns. Try to avoid too much color or too much of a smokey eye, because that will be too harsh for this innocent look.
You want to look feminine and pretty but still sexy and alluring.  The Kat Von D True Romance Eyeshadow Palette - Saint  is perfect for this look.  Each shadow is highly pigmented and infused with rose extract to hydrate and moisturize.  Many men are attracted to women's eyes, so play up your eye colors to draw the attention directly to you.  For blue eyes go for golds and warm browns.  For brown eyes, go for shimmery browns, gold, and vanilla shadows.
For green eyes, go for chocolate browns and warm copper shadows.  A matte or shimmering pink can complement all eye colors if applied sparingly.

6) Sexy Voluminous Hair

Nothing is as sexy as big, beautiful, voluminous hair! For your Valentine date try a tousled look with lots of volume like Jennifer Lopez's locks.  Spray some Big Sexy Hair Root Pump directly onto the roots of damp hair.  Blow dry hair upside down and curl small sections of hair without making it look 100% perfect. Then run your fingers through the strands of hair to give a more unpolished look.
For a lot of extra volume in the roots, use got2b Powderful Styling Powder.  Use this product on dry hair to add mega volume to your do.

 7) Sweet Talk

Philosophy Sweet Talk makes a great Valentine's Day gift or just a "treat yourself because it's Valentine's Day" type of gift.  This is a trio of a three-in-one shampoo/body wash/bubble bath, body lotion, and a pink sheer lip gloss.  This set is the perfect combination of sweet and tart.

8) Rosewater Toner

Burt's Bees Rosewater Toner is infused with natural rosewater, aloe vera, and glycerin.  It gently removes dirt, oil, and make-up as well as even out the tone of the skin.  The smells of the rosewater is very aromatic which will relax you as well as do your skin wonders!

9) Yummy Chocolate Sugar Scrub

Giovanni Hot Chocolate Sugar Scrub not only leaves skin soft and moisturized but it also fills the room with the heavenly aroma of fresh brownies.  This scrub removes layers of dead skin cells, revealing fresh beautiful skin. This is a great way to get your V-day chocolate fix without all the calories!
